(Update: The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame broadcast is now over.)

METALLICA was named to the Hall on their first chance at eligibility, and drummer Lars Ulrich told The Pulse of Radio he's perfectly happy to go in now. "Sometimes, especially with younger people, one has a tendency to quickly, you know, when accolades come your way, to kind of go the cool way and say, 'Well, that doesn't mean that much, you know. Try me again in 10 years, darling,' you know, that type of stuff," he said. "But I'm 45. I'd much rather be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame while I'm still conscious enough to experience it and enjoy it and certainly more interested than being, you know, 65 years from now or whenever when, you know, it would be a different thing. So I'm proud, I'm psyched."

One of the most anticipated moments of Saturday's event will be when former bassist Jason Newsted performs with METALLICA for the first time in nearly a decade. Newsted himself is looking forward to that and also to seeing literally hundreds of people from METALLICA's history who are coming to Cleveland for the ceremony. "You know, the whole thing is about nostalgia anyway, right?" Newsted said. "The Hall of Fame is, that's really what it's based on. So that part is gonna be very, very intact for us. We have a lot of roots going very deep that will be in the room with us on the moment, and that gives us strength that's really indescribable."

Both Newsted and current bassist Robert Trujillo will perform at the ceremony. Both are being inducted, along with late bassist Cliff Burton.

The band will be inducted by RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS bassist Flea.

METALLICA was nominated 25 years after the release of the band's 1983 debut album, "Kill 'Em All". An act must be recording for a quarter century in order to be eligible.

Other acts getting inducted on Saturday (April 4) include RUN-DMC, JEFF BECK, LITTLE ANTHONY & THE IMPERIALS and BOBBY WOMACK.
