WHIPLASH Parts Ways With Drummer TONY SCAGLIONE, Recruits SIKTH's DAN FOORD

January 6, 2011

New Jersey thrashers WHIPLASH have once again parted ways with the group's original drummer, Tony Scaglione, and have replaced him with Dan Foord of the U.K.-based metal band SIKTH.

Commented WHIPLASH guitarist/vocalist Tony Portaro: "Tony [Scaglione] and I were really looking forward to working together once again, but unfortunately there are personal issues in his life that arose which take priority. Fortunately, I was able to contact Dan Foord with the help of Ben Ward of ORANGE GOBLIN and Nathan Perrier of ALABASTER SUNS, LABRAT and CAPRICORNS.

"Dan is well-schooled and plays with exceptional technique.

"Dank [DeLong, bass] and I are working together feverishly and are very much looking forward to performing live with him in the near future. We are expecting the crowds to share the adrenaline rush as we eagerly anticipate this year's live shows."

WHIPLASH will perform its classic 1985 debut album, "Power And Pain", in its entirety on March 18 in Manchester, U.K. and on March 19 in London, U.K.

WHIPLASH is a three-piece power trio hailing from New Jersey. The band was assembled back in 1984 when Tony Portaro (guitar, vocals) and Scaglione joined forces, then recruited Tony Bono on bass.

"Unborn Again", the latest album from WHIPLASH, was released in 2009 via Pulverised Records. The CD was recorded at Mozart Studio with Harris Johns. The band mixed and mastered the album at The Music Lab in Berlin, Germany. The cover artwork was created by Ed Repka (DEATH, ATHEIST, MEGADETH, NUCLEAR ASSAULT, POSSESSED).

WHIPLASH is:

Tony Portaro - Vocals/Guitar
Dan Foord - Drums
Dank DeLong - Bass
