WHITESNAKE Confirmed For Michigan's MUSKEGON SUMMER CELEBRATION
May 10, 2005Bill Iddings of The Muskegon Chronicle is reporting that WHITESNAKE is among the bands that have been confirmed for Michigan's Muskegon Summer Celebration, the annual music festival that on Monday announced its final main-stage lineup for 2005.
Running this year from June 30 through July 10, Muskegon Summer Celebration is entering its 13th year. It began in 1993 and has continued to grow annually.
WHITESNAKE will make their Summer Celebration debut on July 9. Opening for WHITESNAKE will be ALTER BRIDGE, which is basically the 1990s band CREED without lead singer Scott Stapp.
Joe Austin, the festival's executive director, said this morning that the 2005 lineup of concert headliners has accomplished something for which Summer Celebration patrons have been clamoring: a diverse music schedule with a significant number of younger acts. Past years have been heavy on classic rock acts.
"The range of appeal is quite broad," he said. "It's a very different lineup than what we've had before.
"We've had a lot of requests from a lot of people for younger acts to appear here, and I think we've accomplished that."
Also announced Monday were JOURNEY, SEETHER, CROSSFADE, GAVIN DEGRAW, HOWIE DAY, RICK SPRINGFIELD, INGRAM HILL, ALTER BRIDGE, COLLECTIVE SOUL, COWBOY MOUTH and BUCKWHEAT ZYDECO.
