YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, GWAR's ODERUS URUNGUS Interviewed On 'The Governor's Ball'

December 31, 2008

Legendary Swedish guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen and GWAR frontman Dave Brockie (a.k.a. Oderus Urungus) were interviewed for the end-of-year special edition of the "The Governor's Ball". You can download the program at this location.

"Perpetual Flame", the new album from Malmsteen, sold around 2,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Short audio samples of all 12 tracks that appear on "Perpetual Flame" can be found on the 7digital.com web site.

Released on October 14, the CD is the first-ever Yngwie effort to be issued via Rising Force Records (distributed via Koch) and it marks the debut of Malmsteen's new singer, ex-JUDAS PRIEST/ICED EARTH frontman Tim "Ripper" Owens.

GWAR's latest album, "Beyond Hell", was released in August 2006 via DRT Entertainment. The CD, produced by Devin Townsend (LAMB OF GOD, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD) is said to be GWAR's "most crushing release yet." A deluxe limited edition of the album included expanded artwork, a poster and a DVD which compiled all of the SlavePit TV episodes along with additional behind-the-scenes footage on the creation of the new costumes, as well as hilarious footage of GWAR in the studio with producer Devin Townsend.
