ZAKK WYLDE In 'Stable' Condition After Cutting Tour Short
August 30, 2009Zakk Wylde's wife Barbaranne has revealed via her Twitter account that the BLACK LABEL SOCIETY frontman has returned home to Los Angeles after dropping off the remaining dates on the "Pedal To The Metal Tour" due to his health problems.
According to Barbaranne, Zakk is in "stable" condition right now after being diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs and leg. She writes, "We are following up with his [doctors] in L.A. with hopes of beginning a slow recovery. Apparently, this is a long process."
Wylde stated in a recent Twitter message that he has to get himself to a hospital emergency room "every 48 hours" to check his blood. He added that he is unable to sing at the moment "because pushing can cause an embolism."
An embolism occurs when an object migrates from one part of the body (through circulation) and causes a blockage (occlusion) of a blood vessel in another part of the body.
The "Pedal To The Metal Tour" will continue without BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, and the rest of the bands — MUDVAYNE, STATIC-X, SUICIDE SILENCE and BURY YOUR DEAD — will carry on with the trek as scheduled.
Further updates on Zakk's medical condition will become available as they are known.
