Hellraiser
"Hellraiser" is not the KROKUS of "One Vice at a Time" or even "The Blitz", and it sure as hell is not the KROKUS of the classic "Headhunter" album, but it's a good deal better than 2004's tepid "Rock the Block". Whether the slight improvement has anything to do with the departure of long-time guita...October 30, 2006

The Price of Existence
All the computers and production skill in the world can't nail down that certain indefinable "something" that makes a good album great. DYING FETUS had it when "Destroy the Opposition" came out — it wasn't radically different than what they'd done before, but it just had that oomph to it, the sound...October 16, 2006

Prone Mortal Form/Innocents
Make no mistake, this reissue is a labor of love, Boston's ONLY LIVING WITNESS not making enough of a dent even years after their demise to warrant this sort of archival caretaking. Hell, you can buy both original CDs used for a few bucks if you look a little! So why is Century Media digging ...October 2, 2006

Signal To Noise
Being called "the MAZZY STAR of prog" isn't exactly a big selling point, is it? With their new album, Finland's hotly-tipped progressive chameleons morph into something kinda commercial and directionless — pretty, beguiling background music that ends up going nowhere. Look at the song "Splinters" fo...August 14, 2006

The Volume of Self
It seems like every summer, Crash Music rolls the dice on one relatively big project, one that stands out from their usual fare of licensed albums from Europe. None of their hopefuls from the past few years have really set the world on fire – anyone still talking about MY FATE or BRICK BATH? — ...June 5, 2006

You know, if you're gonna embrace a style of music, why half-ass it? Once you've gone the "clean vocals" route, Internet trolls are going to call you names anyway, so why not make those clean vocals as utterly smooth and slick as possible? Hell, add some of those over-emoting end-of-the-song ooh's a...April 24, 2006
