BRING ME THE HORIZON Members To Climb Mount Kilimanjaro This Week

According to The Pulse Of Radio, BRING ME THE HORIZON singer Oli Sykes and keyboardist Jordan Fish will set out at the end of this week to climb Mount Kilimanjaro and raise money for Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Southampton Hospital in the U.K. So far, the pair have raised approximately two-thirds of the financial goal they wanted to reach, earning the British equivalent of $89,000 with the goal being the equivalent of $131,000.

The campaign began after Fish and his wife had to bring their four-day-old son Eliot to the hospital's pediatric care unit when he suffered a brain hemorrhage. Fish attributed much of Eliot's survival and recovery to the unit and decided to do something to give back to it, with Sykes offering to help as well.

Donations have also come in from bands like GOOD CHARLOTTE, ARCHITECTS and others.

The pair will travel to Tanzania on October 12 to begin their eight-day hike up Kilimanjaro. The mountain is the highest summit in Africa and the pair will have to ascend more than sixteen thousand feet to reach the peak.

Fish said: "While in hospital I decided that I would focus myself on doing something positive for the ward and trying to raise enough money to pay for a new bed for them. Oli asked immediately if he could join me and help raise as much awareness for this cause as possible.

"In October 2017 we will fly to Tanzania, where we will climb Mt Kilimanjaro over the course of eight days.

He added: "In terms of Eliot's recovery, we still have a very long way to go and we are taking each day at a time. However, he is still alive to fight, he is breathing on his own and we are seeing small improvements every day. He is a little fighter and has shown amazing signs of recovery already, even at this early stage. We owe that completely to the nurses, doctors, neurologists and staff at PICU."

BRING ME THE HORIZON's most recent album, 2015's "That's The Spirit", reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 album chart and featured the hits "Happy Song" and "Throne".

Last December, the British act released its "Live At The Royal Albert Hall" DVD, documenting an April 2016 concert at the legendary London venue with a full orchestra and choir. All proceeds went to Teenage Cancer Trust.
