DAVE LOMBARDO Says He Worked On All The Songs That Will Appear On SLAYER's Next Album

Former SLAYER and current PHILM drummer Dave Lombardo was interviewed on the July 21 episode of the "Thrash Zone" show with hosts Billy Boldt and Matt Scott. You can now listen to the chat in the YouTube clip below. (Note: The Lombardo interview begins around the two-hour, 24-minute mark.)

Asked if he can see himself ever rejoining SLAYER again, Lombardo replied: "I don't anticipate going back. I've already moved on and closed that door. I don't see it happening. They're perfectly happy where they're at."

He continued: "I worked on all of the songs that are going to be on the new [SLAYER] album with Kerry [King, guitar]. They've been working on that album… shit… for years now. 'Implode', their new radio hit, is basically the guitar tracks that were done during my session, but they've removed my drums and added Paul's [Bostaph, current SLAYER drummer]."

Lombardo was effectively fired from SLAYER after sitting out the band's Australian tour in February/March 2013 due to a contract dispute with the other members of the group. Filling in for him was Jon Dette (TESTAMENT, ANTHRAX).

Asked to comment on the business-related issues that resulted in his latest exit from SLAYER, Lombardo told "Thrash Zone": "I really don't want to touch on that subject anymore, because it seems like once the subject is brought up, the trollers on the Internet, they're, like, 'Oh, he's fucking complaining about money.' It's, like, no. I'm complaining about the mismanagement. I've moved on. There's new things, better things to come."

SLAYER's new album is being produced by Terry Date, who previously worked with the band on the song "Implode", which was made available as a free download as a "thank you" to the band's fans for their continued support following SLAYER's surprise performance at this past April's Revolver Golden Gods awards in Los Angeles.

Joining guitarist Kerry King and bassist/vocalist Tom Araya during the sessions for SLAYER's new album are returning Bostaph, who replaced Lombardo last year, and guitarist Gary Holt (also of EXODUS),who has been touring with the band for the past four and a half years.

PHILM will release its sophomore album, "Fire From The Evening Sun", on September 16 (one day earlier internationally) via UDR. The band's lineup is completed by guitarist/vocalist Gerry Paul Nestler (CIVIL DEFIANCE),and bassist Francisco "Pancho" Eduardo Tomaselli (WAR).
