SOUNDSCAN Report: MINISTRY, SCORPIONS, MOTÖRHEAD, HOLLYWOOD ROSE

June 30, 2004

MINISTRY's new album, "Houses of the Molé", has sold 5,081 copies in the U.S. during its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Meanwhile, SCORPIONS' latest, "Unbreakable", shifted 4,541 units, while MOTÖRHEAD's "Inferno" registered a first-week sales tally of 3,178. Perhaps most surprisingly, "The Roots of Guns N' Roses", a collection of the very first demos recorded by Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin before they became GUNS N' ROSES, premiered with a paltry 1,891 copies — a far cry from the 256,264 and 169,203 figures achieved by VELVET REVOLVER's "Contraband" (featuring former GUNS N' ROSES members Slash, Duff and Matt) and GUNS N' ROSES' "Greatest Hits" during their respective first weeks in the stores.
