I'm sorry, but I have to repeat it once again; Poland is just a goddamn extreme metal Mecca. If you see "Poland" stamped on any materials whatsoever associated with a CD, then make sure to at least check it out. Chances are that you will be chuffed. But anyway, that SQUASH BOWELS does nothing to tarnish that reputation with "Grindvirus" should come as no surprise to anyone that has been exposed to the act at any point in its 13-year history.
"Grindvirus" is more reliably bludgeoning and perfectly prurient grindcore that offers no surprises; only headaches and pulmonary embolisms for the uninitiated. Certainly deferential to the old school, yet freshened up for 2009, "Grindvirus" offers truckloads of blast beaten goodness and a sound as thick and gooey as the stuff coming out of the mouth of the dude on the album cover, as well as lyrical content to match on songs like "Don't Look a Gift Horse in the Ass" and "Bacterial Fertiliser". Along with thick and gooey, I might add that the sonic quality of the release is quite devastating and comes with the kind of bottom end for which sub-woofers are made, that is if one was bold enough to attempt such shenanigans with a gindcore record. If you're enjoying a cruise down Main Street on a warm, sunny day with "Grindvirus" as your soundtrack, then odds are that you're bold enough.
It is not all-blasting-all-the-time though, as "Grindvirus" offers the occasional pace shift (e.g. "Shit Oneself") and muscular groove (e.g. "D.I." ),collectively resulting in smart sequencing and album flow. Original it is not, but a shit about that aspect of it most fans could not give. It is well played and brutalizing. And it works.
