AC/DC, IRON MAIDEN Nominated For BRIT AWARDS

January 20, 2009

According to Times Online, AC/DC and IRON MAIDEN scooped three nominations between them in the shortlists for the 2009 Brit Awards.

IRON MAIDEN is nominated in the "British Live Act" category while AC/DC is up for the "International Group" and "International Album" awards, winning recognition for the band's latest offering, "Black Ice", which topped the charts in October.

The winners of the majority of the categories are chosen by the Brits voting academy, which is made up of 1,000 specially invited judges including music critics, journalists, and radio presenters. Less than a quarter of the judges are drawn from the record industry itself and 12 per cent are employees of the major record companies.

The awards ceremony will take place on February 18 at Earls Court Arena, in West London, and will be televised live on ITV1. The show will be hosted by Kylie Minogue and James Corden and Mathew Horne, the stars of the BBC comedy "Gavin & Stacey".
