Australia's Undercover News is reporting that items by AC/DC and THE EAGLES were the biggest-selling items at this past weekend's auction for the late famed tour manager Wane Swampy Jarvis.
"[AC/DC guitarist] Angus Young's jacket and a guitar signed by THE EAGLES were the biggest items," Wane's wife Kerrie Jarvis told Undercover News. "Both the jacket and the guitar sold for over AUS$7,000 (approx. $4,900)."
150 items, including an engraved cigarette lighter given to Kerrie by Frank Sinatra, backstage laminates, posters, albums, tickets and an autographed ROLLING STONES and AC/DC Toronto set list, collectively raised around AUS$63,000 (approx. $44,000) on the day.
"Of the 150 items for sale, only eight were not sold," Kerrie said. "It started off fast with the AC/DC items at the start and then in alphabetical order by artist for the next four hours."
Wane Swampy Jarvis was a much loved legend in Australian music circles. He toured with the world's greats including the ROLLING STONES, AC/DC, THE EAGLES, FRANK SINATRA, PEARL JAM, FOO FIGHTERS and BARBRA STREISAND.
He died June 10, 2003 at his home in Sydney of a heart attack at the age of 57.
