AEROSMITH's PERRY, TYLER To Appear At AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS
November 18, 2008AEROSMITH's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry will make a special appearance at the 36th annual American Music Awards. Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, the show will broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 23 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
AEROSMITH has received seven American Music Awards from nine nominations.
As previously reported, AEROSMITH will play its first-ever show in Caracas, Venezuela on February 1, 2009 as part of the three-day Solid Fest. Also scheduled to appear are 50 CENT and SIMPLE PLAN, among others.
AEROSMITH guitarist Brad Whitford told LiveDaily on October 19 that the band will likely hit the road in the spring of 2009, although he wasn't sure whether they would have new music to play while they're out there. Speaking after his appearance at a Connecticut stop of the Experience Hendrix tour, Whitford said, "We've been offered to go out and do a tour next year starting in March, I guess. Providing the sky doesn't fall, that's what we'll be doing." As for whether a new album will be finished in time for the trek, Whitford admitted, "Typical AEROSMITH: everybody's off in their own little world and I'm not sure we're going to get it done before we go out, which is unfortunate, because it would be nice to have some new music to play."
Whitford added that one alternative to just going out and playing the hits again would be for the band to dig deep into its catalog. He explained, "I've always wanted to do a lot of deep cuts. The thing I've always wanted to do — that I have never been able to get the guys to do, which would be very cool — is doing albums in sequence. I think it would be great to do a concert playing 'Rocks' and 'Toys in the Attic'...And play it the way you hear it."
