ALICE IN CHAINS Guitarist: 'I'm Really Excited For The Future'

In early August, Meltdown of Detroit, Michigan's WRIF 101.1 FM radio station conducted an interview with ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell. You can now listen to the chat using the audio player below.

ALICE IN CHAINS officially returned nearly a year ago when its first album since 1995, "Black Gives Way To Blue", came out in late September 2009. The band toured for three years before that to lay the groundwork for eventually making new music. Singer and guitarist William DuVall told Billboard.com that it probably won't be another 14 years before ALICE IN CHAINS records again. "You don't come this far and do all this work just to then stop for (laughs),for another 15 years or, you know, stop forever or whatever," he said. "We are on a path, and just as it was in the beginning, we still don't know where it's gonna lead. But we're digging what we're doing and we're very happy with the reception that we've gotten."

DuVall said that he doesn't know when the band will get to work on a new record, adding that there are some riffs "flying around" but no official new songs.

He also told Billboard.com that there are tunes left over from the "Black Gives Way To Blue" sessions which could surface next time.

DuVall joined ALICE IN CHAINS in 2006 when the band started touring again for the first time in 10 years. Original vocalist Layne Staley died in 2002.

ALICE IN CHAINS is gearing up to headline the BlackDiamondSkye tour with DEFTONES and MASTODON also on the bill. The trek kicks off on September 16 in Chicago.
