AMON AMARTH: Winston-Salem Cancellation Explained

July 21, 2007

Sweden's AMON AMARTH has issued the following update:

"Unfortunately we couldn't make it to the show in Winston-Salem [on July 16] due to the bus breaking down. We did everything in our control as we really looked forward to playing in North Carolina and we of course want to make it to every show on the tour. But there was no way we couldn've made it. We appologize to all our fans that came to the show to see us and hopefully we can make up for it soon!

"The last couple of days have been very hectic due to bus problems and we nearly didn't make it both to the Toronto and Detroit show. Luckily the CHIMAIRA guys passed by just as the bus broke down again on the way to Toronto and gave us a lift, thanks very much! Also a big thanks to JOB FOR A COWBOY for lending their gear to us so we could actually play the shows.

"We got to change to a new bus but due to time and traffic we arrived to Detroit 10 minutes before our set, again thanks to Job for a cowboy for letting us play on their stuff!

"Hopefully the rest of the tour should work smooth and we are able to do every show. So far the Sounds of the Underground has been nothing but awesome with so much great and laid-back people both in the bands and the crew. Of course also with all people coming out to support us and having a drink with us after the show, cheers!"

Video footage of AMON AMARTH's June 7, 2007 performance at the Sweden Rock Festival in Sölvesborg has been posted at YouTube.

AMON AMARTH's video for the song "Cry of the Black Birds" has been posted online at this location (Windows Media). The clip was directed by William C. Schacht.

AMON AMARTH's latest CD, "With Oden on Our Side", entered the national album chart in Sweden at No. 21 and in Austria at No. 27. The album has also debuted on the German national chart at position No. 21. This is the highest chart entry in Germany of any band on the Metal Blade roster, according to a posting on the group's web site.

AMON AMARTH will support Norwegian black metallers DIMMU BORGIR on a European tour this fall.
