ANNIHILATOR Guitarist JEFF WATERS Plans DVDs, Side-Projects
August 27, 2004ANNIHILATOR mastermind Jeff Waters is in talks with three different companies about releasing the group's first-ever DVD. "The Campbell Brothers will be doing it so it will be a really entertaining DVD," Waters writes on the band's web site. "Well worth the 15-year wait for a video/DVD release from us. I will let you know what will be on it but i can assure you, it will be a big-selling item. TONS of rare and priceless stuff. This REALLY will be a special thing. Trust me on that one!"
In addition to releasing a "proper" ANNIHILATOR DVD, Waters says that there are also plans to issue a second DVD that will be "kinda half an instructional guitar/ANNIHILATOR video: me jamming to some of the songs/solos on the CDs and playing some easy ones and hard ones. BUT the other half should be a really entertaining one: lots of me talking about how cds were recorded, tour of my studio, guitars, amps, all the neat and intersting stuff ya always wanted to know. AND A LOT OF RARE FOOTAGE AND AUDIO. So this will not be just for guitarists, but for bassists and all fans of ANNIHILATOR!"
Waters has also commented on the reports that he might be under consideration for MEGADETH's touring lineup when the band hit the road for some dates later in the year. "[MEGADETH mainman Dave] Mustaine and I are talking, or at least, we were," Jeff said. "As much as I would love to play with that genius, not sure if that one will happen; lotsa talk but nothing firmed. Hopefully, at least, he and I can get together and write some wickedly sick metal someday!"
On the subject of collaborating with other musicians, Waters has revealed plans for a side-project which will also include ANNIHILATOR singer Dave Padden as well as a few "guys [who] are in one of the top three biggest hard rock/metal bands in the world right now," he said. "It would be an honor for Dave and I to do this one; we are fans of their band. Turns out that THEY have liked ANNIHILATOR for many years! Wow! Cool! Hope it happens and will let you all know, of course! I talk to them again in a week and a half."
ANNIHILATOR's latest album, "All For You", has been available in Europe since May through AFM Records. The CD, which was produced, mixed and engineered by Waters at Watersound Studios in Canada, marks the recording debut with the group of Padden, who replaced previous vocalist Joe Comeau (ex-OVERKILL, LIEGE LORD) in June 2003. A five-song EP, entitled "The One", was also issued containing two bonus video clips.
