ANTHRAX: FRANK BELLO's 'One-Of-A-Kind' Bass Goes Missing

September 8, 2008

Willie Gee, who works as a member of the stage crew for the legendary metal ANTHRAX, has sent the following message to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"At some point during prep for the shows ANTHRAX recently did in Japan and South Korea, one of Frank's [Bello, ANTHRAX bassist] basses, a custom-made, one-of-a-kind 'Angry Man' signature model with a natural ash finish and black body binding wound up missing. When the gear arrived in Kawasaki Japan and the crew got to the venue, the case containing the bass and a few other items was missing.

"The equipment left en route to Japan somewhere around August 8th and the bass was discovered missing when we arrived in Japan at at Club Citta in Kawasaki on August 15th.

"Frank Bello's 'Angry Man' signature bass is only available in a black finish on alder body wood, with white/creme binding. The missing one is a lacquered natural ash wood, with black binding. The bass is equipped with Dunlop Straplock buttons and also missing from the case is a Fender guitar strap with attached Shure Brothers UHF series wireless transmitter."

ANTHRAX made its first-ever appearance in Korea as the headliner of the 10th annual Dongducheon Rock Festival on August 17 in Dongducheon.

ANTHRAX utilized the services of bassist Joey Vera (ARMORED SAINT, FATES WARNING) for its appearance at the Heavy MTL festival on June 22, 2008 at the Heavy MTL festival at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. "Frankie wasn't able to make the Montreal gig due to a family obligation," the band's manager, Izvor Zivkovic of Split Media, told BLABBERMOUTH.NET in a June 20 statement.
