ANTHRAX Guitarist Forced To Sit Out Kansas City Show
January 26, 2012ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian was forced to sit out the band's performance earlier tonight (Thursday, January 26) at The Midland in Kansas City, Missouri after being taken ill. Ian's ANTHRAX bandmates played the show with both guitarists from co-headliners TESTAMENT filling in on different songs. In addition, TESTAMENT frontman Chuck Billy joined ANTHRAX on stage to perform the classic track "Indians".
"Thanks for bearing with us," ANTHRAX vocalist Joey Belladonna said as he explained Ian's absence. "We'll be as good as we can." The Kansas City Star reported that Belladonna became a little flustered with the unpredictability and understandable sloppiness of the show. "Who's next?" the singer asked onstage. "I don't even know who's coming in and out."
SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser filled in for Scott Ian at nearly a dozen ANTHRAX shows last July while Ian spent time with his family following the birth of his first child.
ANTHRAX's latest album, "Worship Music", sold 28,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 12 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's previous studio CD, 2003's "We've Come For You All", opened with just under 10,000 units to debut at No. 122.
