ARCH ENEMY Frontwoman Interviewed On Iranian TV (Video)

January 13, 2011

Vocalist Angela Gossow of Swedish/German extreme metallers ARCH ENEMY was interviewed by the Iranian TV station Manoto TV when the band performed at The Forum in London, England on November 27, 2010. The segment, which aired about two weeks ago, can now be viewed below. The intro and outro is in Persian, as well as the voiceover, but Angela's answers are in English and are subtitled.

After a primary introduction and a brief history of the band, the questions that were asked in the interview were as follows:

01. The Iranian ARCH ENEMY fans love the song "Nemesis". Please tell us about the composition process of this song and the meaning and philosophy behind it.

02. Where do ARCH ENEMY members get ideas for their songs?

03. What is the direction that ARCH ENEMY is taking in their new album and would you be incorporating a progressive sound?

04. Please tell us about your vocal technique and whether it's possible to learn to sing in this style without the help of a vocal couch?

05. Would you be playing any gigs in areas closer to the Middle East region?

06. Despite the fact that you live in a free country what are some of the social and political issues that inspire you to write?

07. What is your legacy in your artistic endeavor?

08. How do you see the future of metal progressing in the international metal scene?

Coming off a triumphant headlining tour in the U.K. in November with support from GRAND MAGUS, CHTHONIC and MALEFICE, ARCH ENEMY entered Sweet Spot Studio in the south of Sweden to begin recording their new studio album for a tentative May release via Century Media Records. The CD is being produced by the band and engineered/mixed by Rickard Bengtsson (who previously worked with the group on 2005's "Doomsday Machine").

Commented ARCH ENEMY drummer Daniel Erlandsson: "We had a very inspiring and creative time writing this album. I think this is definitely evident when listening to the new songs. There's tons of variation in the material, ranging all the way from very melodic to extremely heavy.

"As you can expect there's no shortage of killer riffs and intricate guitar work; the Amott brothers [Michael and Chris] have come up with some very cool yet demanding ideas!

"This album has some of the fastest songs I've ever recorded, along with a bunch of heavy pounding mid-tempo songs.

"As always, it's difficult to describe music in words, but rest assured — this album will be one heavy fucker!"
