ANOTHERDAY, the New York-based outfit that includes in its line-up former DRAIN STH guitarist Flavia Canel, is currently wrapping up work on a four-song demo.


Sweden's THE PROJECT HATE MCMXCIX, who include in their ranks ENTOMBED bassist Jorgen Sandstrom, will be holding a release party for their upcoming album, entitled When We Are Done...Your Flesh Will Be Ours, on August 11th at Contan in Örebro, Sweden.


U.D.O. have completed mixing their Live In Russia CD and are presently working on the cover artwork for the album, which will come out as a special edition and will look like a small book. A US release is planned for September 25th through SPV USA. Meanwhile, U.D.O. is scheduled to begin work on a brand new studio CD in August for a February 2002 release.


The UK's ONEDICE are due to enter the studio in August to record eight songs for their upcoming mini-album, which will be released later this year through Infernal Records.


Örebro, Sweden's WOLF have completed recording their new, as-yet-untitled album with producer Peter Tagtgren at the Abyss Studio. Nine songs were reportedly laid down, including a cover of MERCYFUL FATE's 'A Dangerous Meeting'. Tentative song titles for the effort are as follows:

A late 2001 release through No Fashion Records is expected.


The reformed KING KOBRA, featuring Carmine Appice (drums/vocals),Kelly Keeling (vocals, guitar and bass),Steve Fister (guitars and slide guitars),and Mick Sweda (solos and rhythm guitar),will be releasing a new CD, entitled Hollywood Trash, through MTM Records in the near future. POISON guitarist C.C. Deville and Earl Slick both make guest appearances on the CD, which is scheduled to include two bonus tracks featuring the original KING KOBRA line-up. In related news, a VANILLA FUDGE tour is being put together for August, starting August 21st at the House Of Blues in L.A. Consisting of three original members—Carmine Appice (drums and vocals),Tim Bogert (bass and vocals),and Vince Martell (guitar and vocals)—plus new addition Bill Pascali (organ and vocals),VANILLA FUDGE will play the following gigs:

HOOBUSTANK will be changing their name to HOOBASTANK in time for the release of their self-titled debut, which is due on October 2nd through Island/Def Jam Records.


RAGING SPEEDHORN are currently recording new tracks at London's Albert Studios with producers Billy Graziadei and Danny Schuler, who are better known for their respective day jobs as guitarist/vocalist and drummer for BIOHAZARD. The band are recording three songs during this session — “Scraping The Resin”, “Chronic Youth” and “Me And You Man” — and if everything turns out as planned, all three tracks will be included on the band's second album, which is scheduled for release in 2002. However, there are plans to release one of the three new tracks as a single in the autumn, and there will be at least one UK tour to promote the single.


The VH1 premiere of Hysteria: The DEF LEPPARD Story on July 18th was reportedly watched by approximately five million viewers and was the second-highest rated VH1 original ever, behind A Diva's Christmas Carol (starring Vanessa Williams). People in the 25-34 age group gave Hysteria the highest rating ever of all VH1 telecasts in history.


Guitarist GARY MOORE was forced to cancel a Liverpool show and two Pori shows after coming down with a case of tonsillitis.


Former YNGWIE MALMSTEEN and current TALISMAN vocalist Jeff Scott Soto will reportedly appear on an upcoming AEROSMITH tribute album covering the song “Crying”, on which he is joined by Craig Goldy (DIO, GIUFFRIA, ROUGH CUTT) on guitar, Aynsley Dunbar (JOURNEY, JEFFERSON STARSHIP) on drums, and Jason Scheff (CHICAGO) on bass. In addition to finishing up work on the forthcoming HUMANIMAL debut CD with TALISMAN bandmates Marcel Jacob and Pontus Norgren, Jeff has also done some vocal overdubs for a new movie called Bubble Boy, with possibly another big soundtrack slated in the near future.


The reunited M.O.D., featuring S.O.D. frontman Billy Milano, will be heading out on a US tour beginning in early August. The confirmed dates are as follows:

Memphis' DUST FOR LIFE have amicably parted ways with Wind-Up Records and are currently entertaining interest from other major labels, for whom they are presently demoing new material at Ardent Studios with producer Pete Matthews. In other news, the band has been added to the main stage at the Great Southern Beer Festival in Memphis, Tennessee on August 25th.


Norwegian rockers STONEFLOWER will be releasing their album, entitled If You Say, at the end of September. In related news, the group's guitarist Jon Johannessen is reportedly working on the material for the forthcoming TNT album in the role of producer/composer (writing alongside TNT guitarist Ronni LeTekro). However, don't expect to hear new TNT music anytime soon, since, according to Johannessen, 'it seems that the four [members of TNT] can't get to grips what [the musical direction of] their new album will be like.”


New York hardcore band ONE KING DOWN have split up.


Sweden's Burning Heart Records have signed Gothenburg's DIVISION OF LAURA LEE, whose musical direction is being described as “some heavy, yet catchy alternative rocking stuff comparable to AT THE DRIVE-IN, FUGAZI-meets-UNION CARBIDE PRODUCTIONS”. The band is currently wrapping up work on their debut EP for the label, which is due to be released in September. A full-length album will be recorded in August with producer Kalle Gustavsson (i.e. SOUNDTRACK OF OUR LIVES, THE ARK, HÅKAN HELLSTRÖM, etc.) and a possible support tour with THE (INTERNATIONAL) NOISE CONSPIRACY is currently being planned.


Sweden's MORIFADE have entered Gothenburg's Los Angered Recording (owned and run by KING DIAMOND guitarist Andy LaRocque) to start recording their second full-length album, entitled Imaginarium. Set to contain 11 tracks, Imaginarium will reportedly be “way more heavy” than its predecessor (but not at the expense of melody),and will allegedly see the light of day sometime in October or November.


ICED EARTH's new album, Horror Show, which was released on July 2nd has entered the album charts in no less than seven European countries. Here are the details:

In Greece, Horror Show has already become the fastest selling metal album of all time, outselling IRON MAIDEN and METALLICA. ICED EARTH's previous offering, Alive In Athens, reached gold status in Greece soon after release and is currently approaching platinum status, which is extremely rare for a 3-CD set.


Japan's SABBAT will issue a live video entitled Live Aaaarrrrggghhh! later this year for Japanese and US market in VHS/NTSC format. A 60-minute affair shot live in Turku, Finland on September 8th, 2000, this video will not be released in European VHS/PAL format due to the existence of bootleg copies of the material that are being circulated without the band's consent.

The UK's ONE MINUTE SILENCE will be playing at the Rimini Beach Festival in Italy on July 26th. Other bands confirmed for this two-day event include: SHANDON, MEDUSA, LINEA 77, and PUNKREAS. ONE MINUTE SILENCE will be performing on the main stage.


MR. BIG guitarist Richie Kotzen will be releasing the long-awaited solo follow-up to Break it All Down in December. In other news, MR. BIG are due to start shooting the video for their new single, “Shine”, off the group's upcoming Actual Size CD, in the near future.
