AUDIOSLAVE Frontman CHRIS CORNELL Claims Ex-Wife Was Illegal Agent
January 6, 2006TMZ.com is reporting that the lawsuit between former SOUNDGARDEN/current AUDIOSLAVE singer Chris Cornell and ex-wife and ex-manager Susan Silver has taken a surprising turn as Cornell filed new legal papers that could financially devastate Silver.
In a petition to California's Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, Cornell alleges that his ex-wife was not licensed to manage his band, therefore she should be ordered to return all the money she ever received. Sources tell TMZ.com that Silver earned hundreds of thousands of dollars as band manager.
The couple is already embroiled in a civil lawsuit in which Cornell claims that Silver diverted funds due to him to other band members. He also claimed that she was holding certain personal items of his hostage, including two Grammys, demo tracks and original lyrics.
Silver has described that lawsuit to TMZ.com as "baseless and absurd." Silver could not be reached for comment on the new filing with Labor Standards.
The couple married in 1990 and stayed together for 12 years before parting ways in 2002. SOUNDGARDEN released three studio albums over the course of the marriage: 1991's "Badmotorfinger", 1994's "Superunknown" and 1996's "Down on the Upside".
