AUDIOSLAVE's TOM MORELLO Believes BUSH 'Can Be Beaten'

August 20, 2004

Launch Radio Networks is reporting that AUDIOSLAVE guitarist Tom Morello will assume his NIGHTWATCHMAN persona on the Rock Against Bush tour, which is being launched by activist organization Punk Voter this fall. The lineup will also feature MIDTOWN, ANTI-FLAG, the AKAS and others, with Morello confirmed to perform on about half of the 15 scheduled dates. Morello, who is staunchly anti-Bush, says he's hopeful about the upcoming election. "First of all, I think certainly that Bush can be beaten. I'm counting on it. There's a tremendous amount of disillusionment as the lies and deceptions that, you know, his administration has foisted on the public, you know, come to light."

As the NIGHTWATCHMAN, Morello has played original acoustic folk songs at coffee houses, rallies, and benefit events. Some of his politically-oriented material can be heard at www.NightwatchmanMusic.com.

Punk Voter was founded by NOFX singer and Fat Wreck Chords founder Fat Mike to "educate, register and mobilize progressive voters," especially among younger people and punk rock fans.

Punk Voter's new compilation, "Rock Against Bush, Vol. 2", sold nearly 26,000 copies since its August 10 release to debut at No. 45 on this week's Billboard Top 200. The album includes contributions from FOO FIGHTERS, YELLOWCARD, GREEN DAY, NO DOUBT and others. A previous volume, released last April and featuring songs by THE OFFSPRING, LESS THAN JAKE and SUM 41, has sold 117,000 copies, according to www.Billboard.com.
