AXEL RUDI PELL Explains Bulgarian Concert Cancellation

German guitarist AXEL RUDI PELL has posted the following statement regarding the cancellation of his Bulgarian show last Friday (June 23) as the support act for the SCORPIONS:

"We're very sorry for the fans in Bulgaria that the show on June 23rd got cancelled at the last minute. We'd been at the stadium in Stara Zagora waiting for our soundcheck as the weather turned from OK to really really bad. It rained like hell with major thunder and lightning. The complete stage went wet in seconds and the voltage went on and off. I personally stood on the stage and felt like a fish in an aquarium. We then got a call from the Bulgarian promoter requesting a meeting with us, the SCORPIONS and some city offficials at a nearby restaurant. As we arrived at that place, SCORPIONS guitarist Matthias Jabs told me that the city officials of Stara Zagora already decided that the show got cancelled. It was too dangerous for everybody to play and even stay on a 'watered' stage, which wasn't 'earthed'. At that time I got a call from my guitar tech, who still was in the stadium, telling me that the voltage now completely went off. So unfortunately there was no chance at all for anybody to play that show. Sorry again!"

AXEL RUDI PELL's new album, "Mystica", is scheduled for release on August 25 in Germany and August 28 in the rest of Europe through SPV Records. The North American release date has yet to be announced.

The follow-up to 2004's "Kings and Queens", "Mystica" was co-produced/engineered by Charlie Bauerfeind and features artwork by Colombian illustrator Felipe Machado Franco.
