BYZANTINE Frontman Sustains Knee Injury

Guitarist/vocalist Chris Ojeda Adams of the West Virginia-based "tech-metal" band BYZANTINE "sustained a pretty good injury to his left knee while performing at the Sound Factory in Charleston, WV" over the weekend, according to a post on the group's web site. Commented Chris, "I jumped up on a speaker enclosure during 'My New Casket', and turned to jump down and saw my pedalboard in the way. I tried to clear it and in doing so, I landed awkward and my knee just buckled towards the inside. It hurt like hell! I finished the set on a stool and later, with the help of crutches and Oxycodone, I finished out the weekend of shows on a stool. I found out later at the ER that I had bruised my tendons and should do some resting to get back to form."

BYZANTINE has a nine-day break until they begin their tour in the U.K. The band should be in top form by that time.

BYZANTINE recently completed work on their sophomore album, "...And They Shall Take Up Serpents", due on July 12 via Prosthetic Records. The follow-up to "The Fundamental Component" was once again produced by the band and Charles A. Fisher and was mixed by Brad Divens (FU MANCHU, WRATHCHILD AMERICA).
