CAMP FREDDY Continuing Work On Debut Album
May 17, 2008CAMP FREDDY the Los Angeles-based "jam" group featuring Dave Navarro (ex-JANE'S ADDICTION, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS),Billy Morrison (ex-THE CULT bassist, current CIRCUS DIABLO vocalist),Matt Sorum (VELVET REVOLVER, ex-GUNS N' ROSES),Donovan Leitch (son of legendary folk singer Donovan),and Chris Chaney (JANE'S ADDICTION, ALANIS MORRISETTE) is continuing work on what is expected to eventually be released as the band's debut album.
"We've done a bunch of covers, it's being worked on, it's coming together slowly," Sorum told Buzznet this past week. "There is a record, there's a lot of music done, we just need to lay vocals. It's a little difficult because every one has record labels, and we need to get clearance. Sometimes when you get big stars you can run into some difficulty business-wise. That's the wall we've hit. At CAMP FREDDY, we try to be artists for artists, we just talk to each other and work it out."
Among the cuts that are set to appear on the effort are "20th Century Boy" (also featuring Steve Jones from THE SEX PISTOLS on lead guitar) and THIN LIZZY's "Jailbreak" (featuring ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell on vocals and Billy Duffy [ex-THE CULT] on lead guitar). Other guest musicians include RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith and singer Macy Gray.
CAMP FREDDY is taking over the Sunset Strip this month by headlining a Thursday night residency at The Roxy in West Hollywood. The five shows which kicked off on May 1 and will conclude on May 29 are presented by Indie 103.1 in association with Galpin Auto Sports and Velvet Angels. CAMP FREDDY is joined by a different array of surprise guests every week as it dives into a treasure trove of classic songs encompassing glam, punk and hard rock. True to the CAMP FREDDY experience, you never know who or what will happen at their gigs.
Since its formation six years ago when they rocked the opening of The Standard Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles at the invitation of Brent Bolthouse, CAMP FREDDY has performed on both coasts of America and on national television shows ("The Tonight Show with Jay Leno", "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", "Late Late Show With Craig Kilborn", "Last Call with Carson Daly"). CAMP FREDDY also hosts a weekly radio show on Los Angeles' acclaimed Indie 103.1 every Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.
