CANDLEMASS: No Confirmed South American Tour Dates
October 25, 2005Despite published reports to the contrary, CANDLEMASS have not made definite plans to tour the Latin American continent. "Some fake tour dates are being advertised in South America at the moment," the band write on their web site. "Please notice that the only official and confirmed CANDLEMASS shows are taking place in Europe in November/December. A tour of South America is under consideration, but nothing is booked yet."
CANDLEMASS are continuing to tour in support of their brand-new self-titled album, which entered the Swedish national album chart at position No. 7 upon its release in early May. The CD also came in at No. 5 on the Sweden chart (featuring only Swedish artists) and at No. 1 on the Hard Rock/Metal chart.
"Candlemass" was recorded in part at Polar studios (ABBA, GENESIS, LED ZEPPELIN) in Stockholm, Sweden and is said to be musically similar to the group's classic "Tales of Creation" and "Nightfall" albums.
As previously reported, CANDLEMASS mainman/bassist Leif Edling recently entered Studioland studio in Upplands Väsby, Sweden with his KRUX project (also featuring ex-YNGWIE MALMSTEEN singer Mats Levén, ENTOMBED drummer Peter Stjärnvind, guitarist Jörgen Sandstrom (also in THE PROJECT HATE, ex-ENTOMBED/GRAVE),and current ARCH ENEMY guitarist Fredrik Åkesson),to record a three-song demo of material to be included on the band's forthcoming sophomore album. The tracks currently being recorded are (working titles): "Lex Lucifero", "The Big Empty" and "Devil Sun". If all goes well, KRUX will return to Studioland in late December to begin recording their second full-length effort, tentatively due in early 2006 via an as-yet-undetermined label.
KRUX, who are currently unsigned, released their self-titled debut album in 2002 via Holland's Mascot Records. A live DVD containing the band's entire performance from May 18, 2003 at Kägelbanan in Stockholm, Sweden, plus a promo video for the track "Black Room" and an interview, was issued in 2003.
