COLDWORKER: European Release Date Announced For 'The Contaminated Void'

August 18, 2006

Drummer Anders Jakobson (ex-NASUM) of the Örebro, Sweden-based band COLDWORKER has issued the following update:

"The European release date [for the COLDWORKER debut album, 'The Contaminated Void'] is set to November 6 [via Relapse Records]. The Japanese release will likely be at the same time or later in the month and the American release can at this point only be narrowed down to 'early 2007.' Exact date to be official soon.

"There are a few advance tracks coming out in different forms during September. As mentioned earlier, 'They Crawl Inside Me Uninvited' will be on a Relapse sampler coming as a bonus disc to the new SUFFOCATION album (release date September 19th in the U.S.). Then 'An Unforgiving Season' will be our track on the 'Soundcheck' CD coming with the next issue of Sweden's Close-Up magazine (on sale the same day — September 19th). It will also will be featured on November edition of the Revolver magazine (U.S.) Bootleg Series. Purchasers of the Revolver are offered a free downloadable track via the magazine's website from some of the newest metal albums coming soon. The November issue of Revolver will be available to the public on September 26th. There will be a smaller tour in connection with the release — unfortunately, we can't give out any details right now, but it will come soon!

"We are, though, about to do our second show so far next Saturday. We're playing first (!) on the 'large stage' at Ungdomens Hus, Uppsala at the Uppsala Blodbad. Lots of great bands playing the same day — JIGSORE TERROR, DEATHBOUND, GENERAL SURGERY and OSKAR'S RELENTLESS, to mention some — and we are opening the whole thing at 15:45, so be there early!

"Finally, the artwork to the album is almost finished and we can tell you, this one is going into the history books! Orion Landau at Relapse has outdone himself and created a extremely cool theme for the cover which includes some special packaging that you don't see that much. It's one of those covers that will make people buy the CD and that's really what a good package is all about."

In existence since January 2006, COLDWORKER's current lineup is completed by guitarists Anders Baerilsson and Andre Alvinzi, bassist Oskar Palsson, and vocalist Joel Fornbrant.

"The Contaminated Void" was recorded by the band this past June and mixed by Dan Swanö. Advance songtitles include "The Interloper", "An Unforgiving Season", "The Contaminated Void", "Return To Ashes", "Strain At The Leash", "Flammable", "Antidote", "Heart Shaped Violence" and "Generations Decay". A three-minute MP3 file containing audio samples of "The Contaminated Void" can be downloaded here.
