DEATH ANGEL Guitarist Checks In From Studio

September 24, 2007

Long-running San Francisco Bay Area metallers DEATH ANGEL entered a Los Angeles studio on September 16 with producer Nick Raskulinecz (FOO FIGHTERS, RUSH, VELVET REVOLVER, SHADOWS FALL, STONE SOUR) to begin recording their new album for an early 2008 release via Nuclear Blast Records. The group's guitarist Rob Cavestany has since issued the following update:

"We are posted up in Los Angeles getting into some serious musical activity. Drove down a week ago and started off with a couple days of final pre-production. We took the songs even further, jamming for hours and digging deep into the details and arrangements. They are now ready to be recorded… let's do this!

"We started tracking on Wednesday and it sounds insane! Raw drum tones are huge! Andy [Galeon, drums] is totally ripping it up, best he's ever been! To top it off, we have the most awesome production team yet. Nick, Lou, Fig, John and Dave are totally on top of their shit. Fuckin pros, man!

"By Tuesday we should be knee-deep in guitar tracking heaven. Besides all my own gear, there is a shitload of guitars, amps, cabinets, effects and every damn thing to experiment with waiting to be played this week. Can't wait to attack and throw down some axe trax…

"Needless to say we are enjoying the process of recording this album to the fullest. We can't wait for you all to hear it. I'll be back with more another progress report in the near future."

Rob Cavestany performed at a private-invitation-only party for STUF-TV cable show "Robb's MetalWorks" on Sunday, August 26 at the Cabo Grille in San Antonio. Rob played material from his solo disc and was joined on second guitar by DEATH ANGEL's Ted Aguilar. Rob's performance at the party, coupled with an interview, was taped for a future episode of "Robb's MetalWorks".

DEATH ANGEL's latest CD, "The Art of Dying", was released in May 2004 through Nuclear Blast Records. The group's first studio album since 1990's "Act III" was recorded at SF Soundworks studios in San Francisco, California with producer Brian Joseph Dobbs (VOIVOD, MANMADEGOD).
