DEEP PURPLE: Lebanese Concert Postponed
July 13, 2006According to Naharnet.com, DEEP PURPLE's previously announced July 27 concert in Lebanon as part of the Baalbek International Festival was postponed in the wake of the Israeli air attacks that shut down Beirut airport and dealt a heavy blow to Lebanon's resurgent tourist industry. No further information is currently available.
As previously reported, an expanded version of the latest DEEP PURPLE album, "Rapture of the Deep", was released on June 27. The new version pairs the original release with a second CD that has, among other things, a new version of the song "Clearly Quite Absurd" and five live performances from when the band reopened the Hard Rock Cafe in London last October. Among the live cuts are the classic DEEP PURPLE songs "Highway Star", "Smoke on the Water", and "Perfect Strangers".
DEEP PURPLE frontman Ian Gillan will do month-long solo tour around North America in August and September. Those dates are in support of his album "Gillan's Inn".
