Diehard METALLICA Fan From Australia Wins Contest To Interview His Favorite Band
November 26, 2010According to The West Australian, a die-hard METALLICA fan from Perth, Australia named Lee Rekman was chosen from eight finalists in a competition run by MySpace to interview two members of his favorite band at their November 10 concert in Sydney.
Rekman posted a video to the "Get Close Australia" page on the social networking web site three weeks ago documenting why he is METALLICA's biggest fan.
"I've been a fan of METALLICA for over 20 years and I just said what they've done for me, how they've inspired me to be all I can be. I learnt to play guitar and base guitar because of these guys," he told The West Australian.
Rekman won the all-expenses-paid trip to Sydney to interview drummer Lars Ulrich and bassist Robert Trujillo backstage at Sydney's Acer Arena before the band's performance.
"It was such a crazy day," he said. "I was sort of panicking about what I was going to ask, I had everything written down but it just ended up being a general chat. Everything flowed, there was no awkwardness."
