DIMEBAG's Murder Drives Web Search Interest

DAMAGEPLAN/ex-PANTERA guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott was the No. 16 most requested search term for the week ending Dec. 11, 2004, according to a press release issued by the Lycos search engine. An excerpt from the release follows:

"The murder of heavy metal band guitarist Dimebag Darrell Abbott sent web users scouring the Internet for news about the [axe-slinger] who was gunned down as he performed on stage last week in Columbus, Ohio. Ironically, the murder of Dimebag and four other people who were also killed by Nathan Gale, took place on the 24th anniversary of the murder of John Lennon. Witnesses at the concert reported that Gale, who was killed by police at the scene, allegedly accused Dimebag of breaking up the band PANTERA, another popular heavy metal group who toured with OZZY OSBOURNE."
