DIMMU BORGIR Recruits Drummer TONY LAUREANO For Upcoming Shows
June 15, 2007DIMMU BORGIR's management has confirmed to BLABBERMOUTH.NET that the Norwegian symphonic black metallers have recruited Tony Laureano (NILE, ANGELCORPSE) to sit behind the kit for the group's next two shows following the announcement that the band's regular drummer drummer Jan Axel von Blomberg (a.k.a. Hellhammer) has broken his arm.
Laureano previously played with DIMMU BORGIR as a session drummer at Ozzfest 2004 after the group's then-skinsman, Danish drummer Reno Kiilerich (PANZERCHRIST, EXMORTEM, VILE),was unable to obtain a U.S. work visa in time to join the band on the road.
DIMMU BORGIR will play the following shows with Tony Laureano behind the kit:
Jun. 23 - Graspop Metal Meeting - Dessel, Belgium
Jun. 29 - Hell City Festival - Stjørdal, Norway
DIMMU BORGIR's latest album, "In Sorte Diaboli", has sold 36,000 copies in the United States in its first seven weeks of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The album premiered with 14,000 units — more than double the 6,400 opening-week number achieved by its predecessor, "Death Cult Armageddon", which came out in September 2003 and landed at position No. 169 on The Billboard 200 chart.
DIMMU BORGIR's official promotional video for the song "The Serpentine Offering" can be viewed at YouTube. The clip was shot by Swedish director Patric Ullaeus (LACUNA COIL, KAMELOT) of Revolver Film Company AB and is the group's first promotional video for its new album, "In Sorte Diaboli".
