DOUBLE DRAGON Recording Debut Album
January 3, 2008Australia's DOUBLE DRAGON has entered the studio to record its debut album, titled "Devastator". The band is once again working with producer Ian Miller and is promising to deliver a CD that "will stand the test of time and cement DOUBLE DRAGON in Australian metal history," according to a press release. As for the songs, vocalist Lee states, "This is our heaviest work to date, and in hindsight it's probably the sound we have been searching for since day one. There are new elements to the songs, a lot more experimentations but at the same time we have concentrated on our strengths, which essentially is twin guitar harmonies, groove and lots of melodic riffs. Lyrically the songs are darker, and the vocals will be a shitload heavier than previous DOUBLE DRAGON releases, but we have also written a couple of ballady type tracks, more classic rock in the vein of mellow BLACK SABBATH. We will always be a metal band, but the freedom of playing metal music gives us a lot of room to experiment with different sounds, and I think our weed-smoking fans will understand where we are coming from with the mellow tracks. I really feel these songs are going to be great live, and I can't wait to hit the road again and show the world a good ole-fashioned Australian metal ass-kicking."
DOUBLE DRAGON's debut EP, "Scars Of Fire", came out in 2006, and was supported by headlining shows across Australia and support slots with SLAYER, MASTODON, ARCH ENEMY and DARK TRANQUILLITY, and also landed them a spot on the mother of all Australian music festivals, Big Day Out.
"Devastator" is due for release in June.
