DOWN: US Tour Planned, Possible Surgery For Anselmo

February 5, 2002

DOWN will likely embark on a month-long US tour beginning in late April in support of their Down II CD, which is due to be issued on March 26th through Elektra Records. In addition, it appears likely that frontman Philip Anselmo will have surgery performed at some point in the coming months to help him with his worsening back problem, as PANTERA/DOWN co-manager Kim Zide confirmed in a posting on PANTERA's official Bulletin Board at www.pantera.com recently. “Philip has extreme back pain and does need surgery,” Zide stated. “He unfortunately has been in pain for at least the last 5 years. The pain only increases as the years go by. It is very serious and in order to have the surgery that might help, Philip will have to take time off from the road. He hasn't decided when he will have the surgery at this point. So, in the meantime, we are doing what we can in the planning part of tour so he doesn't push himself too hard. As far as DOWN's touring scenario goes, We are planning a tour that will last a month. It will probably begin the last week in April and go thru the last week in May. This is all that is planned at the moment but we are now talking about what will come after that. And yes, the Ozzfest rumors are still just that, rumors. If the rumors become truth, I will let you know...”
