DRAGONFORCE Drummer Disputes Austrian Promoter's Anti-W.A.S.P. Account

June 4, 2004

DRAGONFORCE drummer Dave Mackintosh has disputed an Austrian promoter's claim that DRAGONFORCE's touring mates W.A.S.P. prevented the group from taking the stage in Innsbruck, Austria on Wednesday (June 2) as part of a wider plot to sabotage the show.

In a message posted by the promoter on his company's (Hafen) web site (under the headline "W.A.S.P. Assholes", the promoter claimed that W.A.S.P. pulled the plug on their headlining performance at the club after playing for exactly 45 minutes, which was the contracted performance minimum. He went on to say that W.A.S.P. took more than one hour to prepare for the show after "preventing" DRAGONFORCE from taking the stage.

Writing to DRAGONFORCE's official message board, Mackintosh rejected the promoter's account, stating "I would like to point out now [that] [Wednesday] night's fuck-up was down to outdated house gear and incompetence on the house crew's behalf, which left DRAGONFORCE no time and no hope of soundcheck. W.A.S.P. had absolutely no effect on the decision of DRAGONFORCE to pull the gig."
