DREAM THEATER's 'Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory' Wins Rolling Stone Readers' Poll

"Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory", the 1999 album by progressive hard rock icons DREAM THEATER, has landed the #1 position in RollingStone.com's readers' poll for "Your Favorite Prog Rock Albums Of All Time." The band's fifth studio release, "Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory" is a concept album about the story of a man named Nicholas and the discovery of his past life. It was created as a sequel to their song "Metropolis, Pt. 1: The Miracle And The Sleeper" off DREAM THEATER's 1992 album "Images And Words". In 2011 DREAM THEATER was also voted #2 in RollingStone.com's readers' poll in the category of "The Top 10 Metal Bands Of All Time" and #10 for "The Best Prog Rock Bands Of All Time."

Lumping them all into this top spot was the only way to handle the flood of DREAM THEATER votes."

As previously reported, DREAM THEATER's August 19 and August 20 concerts at Estadio Luna Park in Buenos Aires, Argentina will be professionally filmed and recorded for the band's next live DVD, to be released sometime next year.

DREAM THEATER's latest album, "A Dramatic Turn Of Events", sold 36,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to enter The Billboard 200 chart at position No. 8. The band's previous CD, 2009's "Black Clouds & Silver Linings", opened with 40,000 units to land at No. 6. This was roughly in line with the first-week tally registered by its predecessor, "Systematic Chaos", which shifted 36,000 copies in 2007 to enter the chart at No. 19. 2005's "Octavarium" premiered with 27,000 copies to debut at No. 36.
