Drummer TOMMY CLUFETOS Explains Split With ROB ZOMBIE, Decision To Join OZZY OSBOURNE
July 17, 2010Stefanie Heminger recently conducted an interview with drummer Tommy Clufetos (OZZY OSBOURNE, ROB ZOMBIE, TED NUGENT, ALICE COOPER). Watch the chat below. An excerpt follows.
Q: Why did you switch from Rob Zombie to Ozzy Osbourne?
Tommy: Why did I? Because Ozzy called me to join his band, and how could I say "No" to Ozzy Osbourne? It's the pinnacle, so that's why I did it.
Q: Are you still really good friends with Rob and it was kind of a mutual understanding [that you would leave his band]?
Tommy: I hope so. I haven't spoken to anybody since I left the band, but I wish everybody the best. Rob was great to me when I was there. I've learnt something through everybody I've worked with and had the greatest time of my life at that moment and tried to enjoy it to its fullest, and I've always done that, and this [playing with Ozzy] is just another level of that.
A current member of Ozzy Osbourne's band, Tommy Clufetos, 30, previously played drums for Rob Zombie, and was featured on Zombie's 2006 album "Educated Horses", Zombie's first live release, 2007's "Zombie Live" and 2010's "Hellbilly Deluxe 2". In March 2010 it was announced that Tommy had quit Rob Zombie and had been replaced by Joey Jordison of SLIPKNOT for the forthcoming Zombie tours.
"I am a firm believer, if you want to play music, you have got to love every aspect of it," Tommy said in a previous interview. "I love every aspect of what I do. The things that people complain about, I live for."
