EDDIE VAN HALEN: I Haven't Spoken To MICHAEL ANTHONY In Two Years

January 13, 2004

A brand-new interview with Eddie Van Halen, conducted over the phone this past Friday (January 9) by Greg Dwyer and Bill Michaels of the Davenport, Iowa radio station KCQQ Q106.5 FM, has been posted online in three parts. Download the audio here: Part#1, Part#2, Part#3.

Although Eddie falls short of confirming VAN HALEN's much-rumored reunion with vocalist Sammy Hagar, he insists that when it comes time to record there will be no shortage of new material. "I've been writing so much damn music it's ridiculous," he says. "Something is bound to pop sooner or later. Sooner than later, I guarantee you that. If I stopped writing right down, I'd have enough for at least 10 records. What do you think I've been doing for the last four years besides fighting cancer, ending a relationship, raising a son and getting a hip replacement? All I do is make music."

With regards to his relationship with Sammy, he says, "We never did not get along. He just wanted to pursue a solo career so he quit. We never not got along".

According to Eddie, he has yet to make amends with bassist Michael Anthony, despite previously published reports that Anthony has been in regular contact with the group regarding the much-anticipated reuniom. "Mike, I don't know," Eddie told "Dwyer & Michaels". "I haven't talked to that cat in two years. I think he's off with Hagar."
