EUROPE Begin Recording Guitars For New Album
June 23, 2006Reunited Swedish hard rockers EUROPE have commenced the recording sessions for the follow-up to 2004's "Start from the Dark", tentatively due this fall. The band have posted the following studio update on their official web site:
"Last Sunday [June 18] John Levén finished his last bass track and later the same day John Norum started working on the guitars... No time to lose!
"John had more than 10 different Gibson guitars to try out in the studio, and after hours of testing and tweeking them all, he decided on a Les Paul custom (Mick Ronson style) to be the No. 1 for this session. John says that this is the best guitar sound he's ever had... We all agree!
"We'll keep on working until Friday [June 23], and then we'll take a break for some days to celebrate the Swedish 'midsummer' with snaps and herring (Swedish tradition!)."

As previously reported, EUROPE's acoustic version of "Yesterday's News", recorded during an appearance on the Stockholm, Sweden radio station 106.7 Rockklassiker on December 7, 2005, has been made available for download at this location.
EUROPE entered the Swedish Music DVD chart at position No. 9 in December 2005 with their live DVD, entitled "Live from the Dark". The two-disc set features the group's November 15, 2004 concert at the Hammersmith Apollo in London, England along with video clips, interviews, band information and a section called "Taxi Diaries."
The group's first collection of new material since 1991's "Prisoners In Paradise", "Start from the Dark" (2004) was produced by Kevin Elson, who had previously worked with EUROPE on their multi-platinum 1986 release, "Final Countdown".
