Ex-MASSACRE/DEATH 'Vokillist' KAM LEE Reviews ROB ZOMBIE's 'Halloween'

September 3, 2007

Former MASSACRE/DEATH and current DENIAL FIEND "vokillist" Kam Lee has issued the following update:

"OK — so I broke down and went to see the Rob Zombie's 'Halloween' this weekend.

"Here's my opinion... it wasn't bad. OK — so I know that statement could be considered almost blasphemy to some, but really it could have been worse. It was a hell of a lot better then the 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' redux, and it did keep to the original formula way more then most 'remakes' have done.

"Now I could sit here and pick it apart like a lot of the 'hardcore' fans, but I'm not going to do that. Why? Well, because for one... if you happen to like Rob Zombie or not really shouldn't apply here. The reason is... as much as we hate this fact — 'Halloween' would have been remade even if Rob Zombie didn't do it. And it could have ended up a whole hell of a lot worse. It could have been given an all-over redux and made into some stupid asinine modern-day teenie-bopper flick, or even some pathetic sci-fi mixture with some experimental drug introduced that would create 'super soldiers' or something as equally dumb! (I've read that this was considered once to explain Micheal Myers seemingly super natural strength.) I will say it was darker, grittier and more real then most horror films being shuffled out of Hollywood these days. It did deliever on the 'power' — and what I mean is that this Michael Myers is a powerhouse of psychotic strength. A really good lesson to you girls that think you could take on a psychotic driven madman when he wants to hunt you down. Now, I'm not trying to sound misogynistic or anything, but it really bugs me when I hear girls say... 'Well, I'll just kick him in the nuts!' That shit won't work in real life girls... this proves just how 'powerful' these maniacs can be! How are you going to keep composer when some hulking maniac is tossing you around like a baby rag doll?!

"Anyhow, I did like it... it's not perfect, but it's not bad either.

"Now I think I should further explain that I only consider the first two original Carpenter films. I do not like the series — everything past the two original films I thought were shit, and I only veiwed those films once when they originally came out. In my own personal collection I own nothing but the first two films... as I considered the original Micheal Myers to have perished in the fire at the end of part 2.

"What I will say is some of the trailers that showed before the film did catch my interest. The '30 Days Of Night' trailer played, and I found myself saying. 'OK — maybe finally a vampire flick that will finally show some teeth,' and the trailer for 'Stephen King's The Mist' also looks promising! Nothing wrong with a few tentacle creatures and prehistoric beasties!"
