Ex-MEGADETH Guitarist Preparing For Televised Performance With TOKYO PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA
July 11, 2006According to a posting on ex-MEGADETH guitarist Marty Friedman's official web site, Marty is currently preparing for a televised performance of his music with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. More information will be made available soon.
As previously reported, MEGADETH guitarist Marty Friedman's latest solo album, "Loudspeaker", entered the Japanese national chart at position No. 33 and has since climbed to No. 20. This marks the first Top 40 chart position for any of of Marty's solo albums.
Marty took part in an exclusive autograph session and in-store live event at Tower Records in Shinjuku, Tokyo on Sunday (July 9). He performed songs from "Loudspeaker", chatted with "Rock Fujiyama" co-host Ken Ayugai and debuted his new music video for "Elixir", which was shot on July 1. The event had to be extended an extra hour to accommodate the unexpected large turnout. Marty will be doing another autograph session/performance question-and-answer session at the Osaka (Umeda) Tower Records on July 23.
The special first edition of "Loudspeaker" contained one bonus track, a vocal version of "Static Rain", the ending theme of the Japanese TV show "Rock Fujiyama". This edition was limited to the first 10,000 copies, which sold out on the first day of release. After those went, the standard version of "Loudspeaker", which has an instrumental version of "Static Rain", was put on sale.
The lead-off track from "Loudspeaker", "Elixir" will become the new ending theme for the next season of "Rock Fujiyama".
"Loudspeaker" features guest appearances by Steve Vai, John Petrucci (DREAM THEATER),and Billy Sheehan (DAVID LEE ROTH, MR. BIG, TALAS) and is described as "by far [Marty's] most aggressive album yet.
