Ex-MEGADETH Members JEFF YOUNG, NICK MENZA Perform Together At MI; Video Available

June 11, 2008

As BLABBERMOUTH.NETfirst reported on June 7, former MEGADETH members Jeff Young (guitar) and Nick Menza (drums) played the classic MEGADETH track "In My Darkest Hour" with Musicians Institute students on Friday, June 6 at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California as part of a live performance workshop.

Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be viewed below.

Commented Young: "This is obviously a bootleg filmed by a student on a digital camera the BUT that Les Paul is still sounds mighty tasty. The second and best take of this song got erased and unfortunately on this one, the other guitarist (Steiger!!) breaks a string so there's a bit of weirdness right in the middle, and wouldn't you know it, right before and during my first solo!!! We are checking with MI to see if the copy of the best take they have is usable. Stay tuned for that one... there's still some cool moments here and some nice lead improv at the end... and considering it's the very first time Nick and I have played together in, oh... 20 years, I'll take this!"

Young recently joined the Guitar Institute of Technology teaching staff at Musicians Institute.

Musicians Institute offers a comprehensive, hands-on education in contemporary music performance, recording, guitar making, music business and film.

Jeff's entire career with MEGADETH was spent recording and touring in support of the band's 1988 platinum-selling album "So Far, So Good...So What!"

Menza joined MEGADETH for the 1990 recording "Rust in Peace" and for the next ten years became associated with the band's "classic" and most profitable era.
