Ex-PANTERA Drummer Says PHILIP ANSELMO Has Nothing To Do With REBEL MEETS REBEL Project

January 5, 2006

Former PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN drummer Vinnie Paul has released a statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET refuting previously published reports that the upcoming album from his REBEL MEETS REBEL project may include a guest appearance by ex-PANTERA singer Philip Anselmo.

Described as a unique crossover of country, metal and rock, REBEL MEETS REBEL features three of the founding members of PANTERA (Vinnie Paul, "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott and bassist Rex Brown) together with legendary country singer/outlaw David Allan Coe. REBEL MEETS REBEL's CD was recorded over a four-year period and is set to contain a total of 12 tracks, including "Nothin' To Lose", "Rebel Meets Rebel", "Cowboys", "Panfillo", "Heartworn Highway", "One Night Stand", "Arizona Rivers", "A Man With Nothin' Ain't Got Nothin' to Lose", "New York City Streets" and "Get Outta My Life".

It was previously reported that the album's title track, "Rebel Meets Rebel", would be a duet between Coe and Anselmo, but according to Paul, that was never the case.

Stated Vinnie: "All the information that has been reported [on BLABBERMOUTH.NET] about my label [Big Vin Records] and REBEL MEETS REBEL is true except there never was nor is a collaboration that involves the former singer of PANTERA and REBEL MEETS REBEL. REBEL MEETS REBEL is David Allan Coe, Dime, myself and Rex. It is a very cool record and will be out in April!!

"Now that the record is straight, thanx for your support and interest..."

"Rebel Meets Rebel" will be the first release through Vinnie Paul's Big Vin Records, which has secured a distribution deal via Fontana. The second project to be released via Big Vin will be a DVD, "Dimevision", as a tribute to Dimebag, one of metal's all-time guitar greats who is credited by some for creating the original concept which eventually became the MTV hit series "Jackass". "Dimevision" features Dime's stellar guitar playing and offbeat brand of humor, and is sure to be a title every serious PANTERA fan will have to own.
