Fans Slam LIFE OF AGONY Frontman For 'Unprofessional' Behavior, Abreviated Performance
December 2, 2005According to several fan postings on LIFE OF AGONY's official message board, LIFE OF AGONY performed an abbreviated set in Stockholm, Sweden on Tuesday (Nov. 29) after vocalist Keith Caputo complained about the lukewarm crowd response. A fan calling him/herself "grandduc" wrote, "The shit began after only a couple of songs. The crowd almost hadn't had the chance to get warmed up. But there was still plenty of motion, cheers and applause. Then Keith starts complaining and saying we are even worse than 'the Germans.' I thought of it as a joke and a means to get the crowd going even more. But then the shit continues with more whining and Keith turning his back on the audience for just about the rest of the show. At some point the band exchanged words and they played their last song after only about ten or so songs. I clearly got the feeling that they cut their set short so that Keith could get off stage. The others were gentlemen and stayed on stage handing out picks and looking kind of embarrassed, so cheers to them. But there is no excuse for Keith's bad behaviour. You just don't act like that if you are a proffessional entertainer. I wonder how many future concert ticket sales they lost right there. I know I will never pay to see them again."
Another fan, "KimLarsson", wrote, "I thought that Keith [was] able to be an 'artist!' thanks to the fans. We paid 200SKR [approx. $25] to be called cunts, fucking worthless and finally; what pisses me of the most, a wish that we might as well get drunk and crash on our way home. Half the time the unprofessional singer (yepp, if one can’t get the crowd jumping around it sure as hell isn’t the crowds fault; the crowd is there, has paid to be there, to see a show, not to jump up and down to please an self-centered singer) [was] standing with his back to the crowd... I have never seen anything like it. I’m actually furios. What a jerk! What a waste of my money! Alan [Robert, bass] and Joey [Z, guitar]; thank you. It's only thanks to you I'm still listening to LIFE OF AGONY. It's a relief that at least two of you know what professional stands for."
LIFE OF AGONY are continuing to tour in support of their latest release, "Broken Valley", available on Epic Records. The group's next appearance is scheduled for Friday night, December 2 at Backstage in Munich, Germany.
