FILTER Frontman: 'We've Got Two Oil Men In The White House That Have Destroyed Our Country'

July 3, 2008

The Pulse of Radio reports that FILTER has sent a new single called "What's Next" to rock radio, the second track issued from the group's new album, "Anthems for the Damned". Like the record's first single, "Soldiers of Misfortune", this one has a political edge. Frontman Richard Patrick said in a press release about the song, "We've got two oil men in the fuckin' White House that have destroyed our country. And we can't seem to recognize that as a culture. It just astounds me. So it's a call to arms."

"Soldiers of Misfortune" touched on similar territory, with Patrick describing it as an "anti-war, pro-troops" song.

FILTER has also added a new leg of tour dates to its current schedule, beginning on July 26 in Sayreville, New Jersey. The band plays Thursday night (July 3) in Flint, Michigan.

"Anthems for the Damned" is the first FILTER album since 2002's "The Amalgamut".
