FIREWIND: Songwriting For New Album 'Almost Completed'

December 18, 2005

FIREWIND, the Greek/Swedish power metal act led by guitarist Gus G. (DREAM EVIL, ARCH ENEMY),have posted the following message on their official web site:

"The material of the new album's almost completed. Some lyrics are being finished up as we speak. We got an hour of brand new music!!

"We're all gonna meet late January to rehearse and finish all the details of the songs before we head in studio.

"As for the recordings, this time we've decided to work in one studio for a change, as in the past we"ve used 3 or 4 different studios. So, recordings will start February 4th in Gothenburg, Sweden at GM Recordings. Fredrik Nordström and Patrik J. Sten will engineer and mix and later on we"ll move to Studio Fredman for the mixing. The mastering will take place early March in Stockholm with Peter in de Betou at Tailor Maid productions. A release date isn't set yet, but it'll probably be late May or early June 2006."

FIREWIND recently announced the addition of singer Apollo Papathanasio (ex-MAJESTIC, TIME REQUIEM) and drummer b>Mark Cross (ex-HELLOWEEN, METALIUM) to the group's ranks. The band plan to make their live debut with the new lineup at ProgPower UK festival on March 25, 2006.

FIREWIND's third album, "Forged by Fire", received its long-overdue U.S. release in July via Magick Records (a division of Cleopatra Records).

Gus G. recently toured with ARCH ENEMY on Ozzfest 2005 as the group's touring guitarist after Christoper Amott bowed out of that band in order to "fully concentrate on his studies at home in Sweden," according to ARCH ENEMY axeman Michael Amott.
