FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Drummer's Autobiography Due Next Year
January 29, 2013FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH drummer Jeremy Spencer will publish his autobiography, entitled "Deathpunched: Cheers To My Sobriety", early next year.
In a brand new interview with "The Heidi & Frank Show" on KLOS 95.5 FM radio station in Los Angeles, California, Spencer stated about his upcoming book: "That's how I hooked up with [adult-film legend] Ron Jeremy; I wanted him on the book cover with me. And the story behind that isβ¦ Obviously, being in a rock band, you dabble in the party lifestyle from time to time. So after years of that catching up to me, I got sober. But we always used to have this saying about doing cocaine, like you would get so cranked on sexually in your brain when you do it β like, everything is exciting β but then you get numbed out beneath the belt line area. So we always said, 'Man, you feel like Ron Jeremy from the neck up and Christopher Reeve [the American who became a quadriplegic after being thrown from a horse during an equestrian competition. β Ed.] from the neck down. So the cover of the book is me in, like, a Superman kind of costume in a wheelchair cheersing a martini glass with Ron Jeremy and two hot chicks. So that's the cover of my book."
According to Spencer, who has been one year sober as of this past January 8, he was originally going to publish the book himself, "but now there's a deal [with a publishing house] happening," he said. "So they're gonna delay it a little bit. It's gonna be [out] the first part of next year."
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's third album, "American Capitalist", was certified gold last year for sales of 500,000 copies. Not only is it the band's third album, but it is the third consecutive release from the group to reach the gold mark, with previous efforts "The Way Of The Fist" and "War Is The Answer" also selling more than half a million copies each. "American Capitalist" debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard album chart when it came out in October 2011.
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH is currently working on its fourth album and is scheduled to make a number of festival appearances this summer, including on a yet-to-be-announced "big tour" in the U.S.
