Former DIO Guitarist ROWAN ROBERTSON In 'Raiding The Rock Vault': Interview, Solo Video Footage

September 21, 2015

Former DIO guitarist Rowan Robertson has joined the acclaimed rock and roll production "Raiding The Rock Vault" at the new Tropicana Las Vegas. Robertson is performing alongside lead guitarist Howard Leese. Tickets are now on sale.

"Rowan Robertson began his career at a young age and has developed an impressive pedigree, to say the least," said "Raiding The Rock Vault" producer Sir Harry Cowell. "He's a wonderful addition to the lineup."

A three-minute video clip of Robertson talking about his involvement with "Raiding The Rock Vault", along with clips of his epic guitar solo during the show, can be seen below.

Robertson joined the quintessential classic heavy metal band DIO when he was only 17 years old, after auditioning in front of Ronnie James Dio and Wendy Dio, who were impressed by the young guitarist. Dio's announcement of the band’s newest member propelled Robertson to overnight stardom. In response to the media frenzy, Dio invited members of the press to meet Robertson at Oliver's Pub in New York City on July 20, 1989. Robertson is featured on DIO's fifth studio album, "Lock Up The Wolves", which was released in May of 1990. Since 2014, he has performed with hard rock band BANG TANGO.

Consistently ranked the No. 1 performance in Las Vegas on TripAdvisor, "Raiding The Rock Vault" brings the history of rock 'n' roll to life. The Strip's resident party show, which boasts the greatest set list of all time, celebrates rock anthems from the '60s, '70s and '80s.

"Raiding The Rock Vault" opened at LVH in March 2013 and moved to Tropicana in December 2014. Musician, producer and vocalist John Payne (ASIA),who co-wrote the show's original script but was let go from the production in May 2014, sued his former "Raiding The Rock Vault" collaborator Sir Harry Cowell in July 2014, alleging copyright infringement and slander and claiming he was owed money for his royalties and performances. That lawsuit was settled in December 2014.

TWISTED SISTER singer Dee Snider slammed "Raiding The Rock Vault" earlier in the year, calling it a "tribute band of a bunch of add-on people who were not the people who played on these classic albums except for [guitarist] Howard Leese, who is the only actual guy who was in the studio making the records we love. Otherwise, it's an army of guys up there claiming their credentials, that they were in these bands, and they are not legit." He added: "It's offensive to the guys who actually played on these albums."
