Former TROUBLE Drummer Comments On 'Live In Los Angeles' European LP Misprint
April 28, 2010Former TROUBLE drummer and current RETRO GRAVE mainman Jeff "Oly" Olson has issued a response to the e-mails and comments from fans regarding the misprint of the first European vinyl pressing of TROUBLE's "Live in Los Angeles" album.
Stated Olson: "Many people have been writing and asking about the European vinyl pressing of TROUBLE's 'Live in Los Angeles' album from High Roller Records. The album states that Mark Lira is playing drums on that album, but it is indeed myself performing entirely. In addition, the band photo [see below] was taken at the show, but not printed on the album (Lira's photos were posted instead). Yes, it is also my kit on the back cover of the album from my last show with TROUBLE at The End Club in Nashville (July 2008). High Roller Records has apologized to me for this error and has promised to make the corrections if more albums are pressed in the future (500 have already been pressed). I understand that this was only a mistake and there are no hard feelings about it at all. I hope this now clears it up."
RETRO GRAVE's debut full-length album, "Again", was released on February 9, 2010. Olson composed all the music for "Again" with lyricist Paull Goodchild.
In a recent interview with Laura Wiebe Taylor of Hellbound, TROUBLE guitarist Bruce Franklin stated about the "Live in Los Angeles" album, "It wasn't a big ordeal to record, which made it more feasible for us to do. Our soundman basically recorded just the one show on the tour so it wasn't like a big costly thing. We didn't actually have the plan of releasing a live album but once we listened to the recording of the show, we thought that would be a good idea — to introduce people to Kory, and in the meantime give us a little time to gel with him and write stuff for a new record."
On TROUBLE's newest member, drummer Marko Lira:
Franklin: "Marko was playing in Rick's side band, WET ANIMAL, and actually our drummer [Jeff Olson] kind of quit suddenly on us. Well, he had given notice that he was going to leave but we had two festivals to play in Europe and then he backed out of them at the last minute, I mean, literally like two weeks before the festivals. We had to find somebody fast, and there really wasn't time to audition people, so Marko was the first person we tried to fill in so we could not bail on those festivals. And then it ended up becoming a more permanent thing. It's been over a year now, so he's had time to gel."
