Germany's WACKEN OPEN AIR Festival Sold Out

The organizers of the Germany's Wacken Open Air festival have issued the following update:

"As announced a few weeks ago, we had an incredible pre-sale und now it's happened: the 19th Wacken Open Air 2008 is SOLD OUT! We thank you all for your loality and support. In the coming weeks we will announce campside maps, running orders and volumes of the full metal bag."

As previously reported, Wacken Open Air festival was honored with a Live Entertainment Award in the "Festival Of The Year" category. This award recognizes distiguished achievements in live entertainment and is given out by Live Entertainment Award (LEA) committee. The winners were announced on Tuesday, March 11.

ICS Festival Service, which organizes the Wacken Open Air festival, said in a statement, "At last we have got the befitting acceptance, respect, fame and honor for our worldwide metal community.

"Thousands of thanks to you all [the fans] for the incredible support and years of loyalty which gives us the strength, creativity and the [incentive] to increase the quality every year!

"The [award was announced] by the SCORPIONS —as kids in the '70s we bought their records and 30 years later (2006) they were playing on stage in our village called Wacken!"

This year's Wacken Open Air festival will take place July 31 - August 2 in Wacken, Germany and will feature performances by IRON MAIDEN, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and NIGHTWISH, among many other acts.
